The Bionics - I Care

The Bionics are a studio band consisting of Danielle Moore and Tim Davies (Crazy P) plus producer Ben Davis (paperecordings / Flash Atkins) joined by a shared interest in wonky dance music and robots. A musical magnetic pull tempted them in to the cellar that is Flash Studios where they clank instruments and non-instruments, feed them in to the Master Computer then apply the lubricant of Danielle’s vocals and lyrics. The results are organic electronics and natural digitalism with roots in pop, house, techno and disco aimed at the heart, feet and head.

I found this track, "I Care" 2 weeks ago on Beatport and it has been in my head ever since. It is tracks like this that have kept me really excited about new dance music.

504

Our homey Pr3-Frosh ended the night with this cut last Friday night at THE BOOTY UP. I have not heard it since about sophomore year at Columbia when it was dorm living. I had two cracker-ass roomies from Rockford who would literally roll blunts all day, blaze and rock out to Master P and Three Six Mafia albums. Honestly, I have listened to "Tear Da Club Up '97" a ridiculous number of times.

Siriusmo - Gummiband

I started listening to Siriusmo when I first heard "Diskoding" a few years back.

Siriusmo, aka Moritz Friedrich from Berlin, is actually not into club music at all –he is a genius when it comes to sound design and high level production. He is Modeselektor’s partner in crime (Which pretty much says it all) and has remixed Simian Mobile Disco’s ‘It’s The Beat’, Boys Noize, French Yelle and of course Modeslektor. You don't want to sleep on this fine young German producer.

Just get thru the akward 30 second intro and you find yourself in some nice dancey goodness.

Tuesday night we get down with some disco of the noir persuasion. Been gathering many new tunes for this party. Big up to Yea Man for putting this together.

Make it Funky for me - Attacca Pesante ft. Shea Soul

I just found this tune for the first time yesterday. It is officially my summer '09 song. Maybe it is that catchy-ass hook or the pads that sound straight out of "Let Me Love You Down", but this just makes ya feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Like a double shot of Don Julio.

And because I love the one or two people that actually check out this blog, here is the mp3: Make it Funky for Me

Song of the Week

Gotta show some love to Arman Van Helden for making great use of the chorus in his track "I Want Your Soul". Because of that I was able to find the original and praise Siedah Garrett's name all week long.
