Siriusmo takes on Bag Raiders

I have praised the likes of Siriusmo before on here and I have a feeling that I will be doing it many more times again. Here is his remix for Bag Raiders "Shooting Stars" of which already has quite a few good remixes, but this one is HEAT!

Get Get Down : Passion Pit Dj Set

This Wednesday we have Dj Shuttle who is the drummer for Passion Pit doing a guest dj spot at Get Get Down.

Shuttle grew out of the streets of Baltimore, Maryland. The classical training in drums, trumpet, and saxophone trained his ear, but the industrial sounds of the streets refined his sound.

The Shuttle sound is boundless, genreless, and in constant flux – a sonic chameleon, not changing with the times, but stretching the musical landscape to its inevitable evolution.

Shuttle found a home for his original sounds amongst the underground Boston musical scene. His unique live shows are now all but infamous within the tightly knit Basstown crew. Their all night parties fuel Boston’s underground music culture with Shuttle’s insatiable sounds and the thrill of no tomorrow at the forefront of every show. Shuttle’s music moved beyond the basements and clubs of the Boston scene and receives spins on Britain’s tastemaker Radio 1, Kiss FM, XFM and many others.

The Basstown crew are not the only notables for which Shuttle has shared a stage, recent luminaries include: Devlin (Spank Rock), Yelle, Crystal Castles, Diplo, and Classixx. His remix credits are equally as credible and diverse including commissioned remixes of Daedalus, The Little Ones and rockers The Death Set.

While still at school Shuttle honed his production skills devouring anything remotely considered listenable. Armed just with his laptop, he began making remixes of his favorite sounds of the day. These bedroom remixes caught the attention of the influential and tastemakers label, Ninja Tune. His highly anticipated debut release "Tunnel" features Cadence Weapon and a remix by fellow up and comer High Rankin courtesy of Ninja Tune worldwide

Million Dollar Disco

I came across this edit last week and have been praising its name ever since. Mike Simonetti of Italians Do It Better and Troubleman Unlimited put this edit together which has more of an intro for a nice mix. I have been playing this the past few gigs and was happy to see a great crowd response to it as well. I hope to see more edits like this.

We are very excited to be hosting Pilooski's first ever Chicago appearance at Get Get Down this Wednesday. We also have Chicago's very own Michael Serafini as well as myself and Popstatic peforming sets. This is an important event for Chicago as Pilooski is only doing about 3 US dates while he is here in the states. Cover for the party is only $3 all night long and the doors open at 11pm. Party goes until 4am. Dee you there!

Give It To Me Right - Ms. Dynamite Refix

I recently started to hear about Melanie Fiona as she has gained some attention after opening up for Kanye. She is about to catch some serious attention in the R&B world. I was happy to find this version of her underground hit, "Give it to me right" featuring the reggae stylings of Ms. Dynamite. They definitely work well together.

Candi Song

This track was given to me by one of the security guards that works in my building. I was quite impressed with the overall production. The beat is dope... the lyrics are interesting... and the hook works. I could definitely see this getting some radio play in the near future.

The Aston Shuffle - Do You Want More

I have enjoyed this duo for some time now and figured it would only be proper to post up about them. I recently heard their "Do You Want More" release and found that their own remix was the best track on the release. Keep an eye on these two Aussie's.

Aja

My lovely wife Edie and I went to the Chicago Theater last night to see Steely Dan. It was their first night of a 4 night series and they were playing music from the album "Aja". Needless to say it was a great show and I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to see them perform live. In honor of that I am posting up a couple of favorite tracks from the album.
