Reggae Sunday - Ice Cream Love

I know it is crazy to have the same artist twice in a row for the "Reggae Sunday" series, but Johnny Osbourne just has so many hit reggae tunes. "Ice Cream Love" came out on the Volcano label in 1980 on the He Prayed Riddim and was produced by Henry ‘Junjo’ Lawes. This is the type of vibe that I love with Reggae music.

Uprising @ Sonotheque is now over due to the closing of the venue. The Reggae Sunday night party will continue at the beginning of December at Relax which is just a few doors down from Sonotheque on Chicago Ave. I will have more information soon.

Da Da Da

People ask me why I'm proud to be German, and I tell them to listen to this song. It is hard to believe it came out in 1982 as I remember hearing it in the 90's, but was brought back through a Volkswagen commercial... or the movie "Bio-Dome". Either way, it is happy good fun.

Fever Ray - Seven (Twelves Remix)

We all know The Twelves make great music and remixes and this remix of Fever Ray's "Seven" is just another example of that. Nothing much else to say except that this is disco-lickin' good!

Steppin' Out

On my birthday (10.21) in 1982, Joe Jackson released his seventeenth single, "Steppin' Out". It was backed by "Another World". Both tracks appeared on his fifth album, Night And Day. The single reached the #6 spot on both the U.S. and U.K. singles charts.

There is something hypnotic about this tune. Maybe it's the message that holds true today as it did back in '82, e.g.,

"We - Are young but getting old before our time
We'll leave the T.V. and the radio behind
Don't you wonder what we'll find
Steppin out tonight"

Reggae Sunday - Ready or Not

Johnny Osbourne has countless hits and classic reggae tracks, but "Ready or Not" has got to be one of his best. It really doesn't get much smoother than this tune. When you hear it at the club it is time to grab your lady and get that tender dance on. More people really need to be couples dancing in the club anyway! Let's start the movement!!
