last year, I'm glad to be heading back to Detroit tonight for Movement! There is too much cool stuff to list, but one party you should definitely check out is this.

<a center;">

I'm extremely excited to be on an event with James Zabiela. This dude is a beast on the decks and has innovated tricks that other DJ's copy. He really utilizes all the realms of fx and tricks you can possibly do with CDJ's and FX processors.

<br Life has been hectic with preparing for the Red Bull Thre3style DJ battle along with moving into a new apartment and being on tour with Dani Deahl for JFR. I wanted to post up that I will be at Cobra Lounge tomorrow night for Zombies vs Skeletons playing an extended set. Miguel is a DJ having traveled all over the country and various spots around the world as part of Dark Wave Disco and performed at Lollapalooza in 2009. Finally in the spring of 2011 they were able to get together and started working on some remixes for California’s “The New Division” and Chicago’s “Comasoft”. After the remix project they decided to take a crack at their first original production. The end result was a completed EP, titled Telescopic, which was picked up by Hot Dog Records and drops online on March 7th.

The Crystal Method

This Monday I get to open up for The Crystal Method for the 2nd time this week. Even though the track had been out for a while, I only found the "Fredo & Thang" Disco Remix about 4 months ago and included it on my "Chicago After Hours Vol. 2" mix.

This remix really holds true to the original which is what I absolutely love about it. The EP continues a high set standard of not only creating complex & layered beats but also continues furthering what is already a promising career.

You can purchase the release on Beatport.

Ghost Mutt - Sweat Mode EP

I was first introduced to this Ghost Mutt from the homey Dom Brown. Needless to say Dom knows me quite well as I was blown away by the cut "Sweat Mode". With a little research I found that dude was releasing a new album which samples 4 Keith Sweat tracks tweaked in his style of UK Bass, House, and Funk. I live this trend of 90's R&B being reworked / glitched out, and brought back to the dance floor. Hope to hear more like it.

This new "Sweat Mode EP" is available for free on Bandcamp. For most, this name needs no explaining, but for those who do, where do I begin... Paul is one of thee biggest names in the iconic Chicago House music scene of the 90s. He is the first name mentioned in Daft Punk's "Teachers" track! Ok?! Nuff said!!

To celebrate this man's life I am sharing with you my favorite mix made by him... "I Need Another Plan." Oh, the countless days my friends and I spent doing the raver hop on my best gal's porch on 79th & Maplewood blasting this!! We were a spectacle. FO SHO! *Funny Tidbit: This was released before CDs were the norm and mid mix he delivers his outro for the A side of the cassette! HAHA... Actual mix TAPE CASSETTES!! Please look him up and buy his music! Out of respect, I can't give it to you for free,

Download: Paul Johnson - I Need Another Plan

Next, I will share with you the title track of this mix, Abtract Truth's "Get Another Plan." Abstract Truth is one of the biggest house bands of the 90s. Honestly, every track on this mix is a GEM! I wish I could share them all with you!

Download: Abstract Truth - Get Another Plan

And lastly, this is probably Abstract Truth's biggest house track. Not located on the mix, but SIMPLY ICONIC!

Download: Abstract Truth - We Had A Thing

As my friend Paul would say,

PEACE & LOVE, Y'ALL!

For the lives we have lived in the past, the present, and those to come, I LOVE YOU, Paul!

Open Your Eyes To The Morning Of New Life

One of my New Year's resolutions was to get serious about this blogging thing. I've come to the conclusion that the only way this is going to happen is if I keep these as short and sweet as possible. Yes, this is how I will stay consistent! After all, you're here for music, not words, right? Wish me luck!

I'll be sharing two 4Hero tracks with you to start your New Year right. 4Hero is a production duo that consists of 2 of the original UK Junglist/Drum & Bassists. In 2007, they released a full length Neo Soul/Jazz album aptly named "Playing With The Changes."

The first of the two is Morning Child. Close your eyes, set the intention for your year, and listen to this song... "Open your eyes to the morning of new life."

Download: 4Hero - Morning Child

And, here's a song of hope for those moments that try to break you... "I'll be your friend through the cloudy days. Don't be ashamed. I wont let you give in."

Download: 4Hero - Give In

I had the idea to post these two songs as I resurrected one of my favorite mixes of all time this weekend, Sea Panda Spring Time Love Breaks Part Two by DJ Magento. Coincidence? I think not. Ah, Manny Magneto... Not only one of my favorite DJs, but one of my favorite people in general. This all around great guy is by far one of the most seamlessly versatile DJs I know. This mix is one of his grown and sexy pieces. It'll get you nice and warm on a cold Winter's day. For this most recent mix I decided to go against the after hours series and make a mix for music that I play at peak time in the club. The tracks I selected were tunes that I rocked the hell out of in the year of 2011, so it could almost even be consider a "best of" mix. As per usual, I had to found a quote for the beginning and end of the mix to keep it book shelved all nice and neat like. Props to Charlie Chaplin for help with that.

Zebo - Welcome to the Club by zebo

1 // Charlie Chaplin (Intro) / Miike Snow - Silvia (Robotberget Remix)
2 // Brenmar - Taking it Down
3 // Mattie Safer Ft. If you liked the first one, then I feel you will not be disappointed. The mix is laced with tracks that I normally don't get to play in the club. Hopefully by spreading these tracks it will make people more familiar and I can incorporate this style even more. Full of some great Nu Disco, Funk, and House cuts. For my people who start their partying at 4am.

Zebo - Chicago After Hours Vol. 2 by zebo

Humorous Norwegian Disco Alias

I first found them with an album called "John Hughes Beat" which contained a few tracks that sounded as if they were in a John Hughes movie. This track below is a shining example of what I'm talking about; even though this track was not on that album. This track was from the group Rational Youth and was originally released in 1982.

Download : Humorous Norwegian Disco Alias - Saturdays in Silesia

Bonus Download : Humorous Norwegian Disco Alias - I Work Out

Wildfire

This is for those who have not yet had the privilege to come across this track this past summer / fall season. For this introduction party we booked 13 of our homies to come out and rock the spot. December will have locals, plus a special Headlining guest!

The night is about pushing quality dance music and quality underground music that you may not get to hear at the club. We will not let the radio or mainstream society dictate what gets played. The dj is taking his / her role back in providing music of substance. It's time for Chicago to take back its underground sound and these parties are only the beginning of what's in store.

13 Djs :.: 2 Rooms :.: Midnight - 8am

DJS : Michael Serafini, Marco Morales, Zebo, Hiroki, Kid Color, Tim Zawada, Johnny Walker, E6, PHNM, Weaponry, Gun Love, Knife Fight, Pr3-Frosh

RSVP on D0312.com for $5 entry before 2am.
